Make Ecommerce Your Closest Enemy
A recent visit to the Retail Merchants Association office in Richmond reminded me that there are two wars being waged against two different enemies.
Enemy #1 - Ecommerce
Enemy #2 - Big Box Stores
War 1 — Buy Local (Small retail vs Online E-commerce) i.e. Amazon.com, Buy.com, Yahoo Stores, WalMart.com etc.
War 2 — Support your local store (Small vs Big) Walmart, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.
My suggestion is that no matter what you sell or what service you provide, snuggle up with your enemies and play to your strengths on their turf. There are tools you can use such as Volusion shopping cart software that will give you a large presence online. Making that move does require some planning and a business plan.
No matter how experienced or successful one is as owner of a brick-and-mortar store, transitioning into an e-commerce business can be a daunting task. In spite of this, the amazing opportunities for profit and exposure available with e-commerce stores make this transition necessary for many business owners. E-commerce is the future of retail and, in order to reap its benefits, business owners need to be able to hit the ground running and learn as they go. In order to avoid many of the mistakes associated with novice online businesses, it's important to have the best information and the most useful help available, so that one can bypass the costly failures that often come with inexperience. By taking advantage of this amazing offer, you can get all the tips and shortcuts necessary for success in the world of e-commerce.
Combat Plan for Enemy #1 — Go online with your store. There are many ways you can use this content delivery method to improve your local business.
Combat Plan for Enemy #2 — Go online with your store. A favorite proverb of mine "There is always a lower price!" You may not be able to compete on price but you surely can win on customer service and product knowledge. Finding a niche market is key. You can use your online store to improve your customer service experience for your loyal customers. Give them more and more reasons to want to shop with you.
